Perish the thought
That lingers and grows;
Never once sought
Yet everyone knows.
Turn eyes away
And cover the ears,
Hold truth at bay;
Give in to all fears.
Cherish the lie,
Display it with pride;
Firmly deny
Dark whispers inside.
Answer it not,
Give nary a sign;
Deem it forgot,
Believe it benign.
Banish the flawed,
Pretend normalcy;
Don a façade,
Renounce oddity.
Bury it deep
And conceal it well;
Grave silence keep,
Disregard the spell.
Perish the thought,
Do not let it thrive
Lest ye be caught,
And eaten alive.

Inspired by the anime Mushi-shi and the manga Hyakki Yakoushou. Can a person really stop something from having power over them simply by refusing to acknowledge their existence?

I like it. Good flow, really nice wording. I'm not good with poems in set rhyming, they bore me after abit, but this one successfully keeps the reader hooked. The huge font made me cring a little, but that was it.
